Company Profile: Kevco Distribution was a $900MM turnkey JIT wholesale distributor and manufacturer of building products primarily serving the manufactured housing and recreational vehicle industries. Kevco Distribution was the result of a number of acquisitions that were only loosely aligned, and originally operated with somewhat redundant operations in several locations as well as operating on at least 3 different information systems. Kevco (parent company) had annual revenues of $1.2B.
Responsibilities and Achievements:
Reviewing operations, designing and implementing actions targeted at improving efficiency and effectiveness of distribution and supply chain processes as well as reducing costs. Projects included:

Centralizing purchasing and material planning which resulting in a 60% reduction in functional personnel

Freight carrier rationalization. Optimized at 9 (TL & LTL) carriers nationally.

Logistics network studies and rationalization. Developed suggestions targeted to reduce logistics operating costs by 40% at the time of bankruptcy. Also, projected to drive significant reductions in inventory.

Development of warehouse operation and fleet operations safety program and manual

Turned around two underperforming branch operations
(Company filed bankruptcy and was liquidated due to heavy debt load from acquisitions and a dramatic industry sales downturn – I was in charge of the final liquidation across much of the country and was the last employee of Kevco Distribution)
