Director, Supply Chain; Stanley Black & Decker/Sonitrol

Company Profile: Sonitrol Corporation (now Stanley Security) is a turnkey integrator of state-of-the-art security solutions for intrusion, video, access, and fire, along with professional monitoring (primarily focused on commercial and very high-end residential applications).  The backbone of the integrated system was proprietary Sonitrol designed and manufactured intrusion and access systems.  Sonitrol boasted the industry's best intruder apprehension rates and lowest false alarm rates.  Sonitrol installs integrated systems compromised of both proprietary as well as other commercially available equipment through a network of company installers as well as via distribution to local franchisee installers.

I joined Sonitrol shortly after the company was divested from Tyco.  At that time no supply chain or logistics capabilities (and only the most rudimentary customer service and procurement capabilities existed).  Manufacturing and repair operations were put in place only a short time prior to the divestiture.  At that time the most significant problems that the company faced operationally were material availability and extended lead times for defective repair. Sonitrol was acquired by Stanley in the autumn of 2008.  I took over responsibility for Stanley real estate planning and relocation in addition to my Sonitrol duties and spent a significant portion of my remaining tenure closing all Sonitrol Supply Chain related operations.
